Frequently Asked Questions
Birth & Postpartum Doula Services
What is a doula, and how can they support me?
A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to parents during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My role is to help you feel confident, informed, and supported through every stage of your journey. Whether it’s navigating the Irish maternity system, preparing for labour, or adjusting to life with a newborn, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
What’s the difference between a birth doula and a postpartum doula?
A birth doula supports you during pregnancy, labour, and birth, helping you prepare for and navigate the experience. A postpartum doula provides hands-on support after your baby arrives, assisting with recovery, newborn care, and the emotional transition to parenthood.
When should I book a doula?
The earlier, the better! Many families book their doula in the second trimester to ensure availability. However, I’m happy to support you at any stage, even if you’re nearing your due date or have recently given birth.
What happens if my plans change during labour or postpartum?
Parenthood is full of surprises, and flexibility is key. I’ll support you in navigating unexpected changes with confidence, ensuring you feel informed and cared for no matter the circumstances.
Do you help with breastfeeding?
Yes! I provide breastfeeding support as part of my postpartum services, helping you with latching, positioning, and understanding feeding cues. I can also offer guidance on pumping and bottle feeding if needed.
Parenting Journey Coaching
What is parenting journey coaching?
Parenting journey coaching provides personalised guidance to help you navigate the transitions and challenges of parenthood. Whether you’re preparing for your baby’s arrival, adjusting to life with a newborn, or balancing parenthood and work, I’m here to support you with practical strategies and emotional encouragement.
How is coaching different from doula support?
While my doula services focus on hands-on support during pregnancy and postpartum, coaching provides a structured, goal-oriented approach to addressing broader challenges and transitions in your parenting journey.
Can my partner join the coaching sessions?
Absolutely! I encourage partners or other key support people to join coaching sessions if it’s helpful for your family dynamic.
Workshops & Corporate Services
Do you offer workshops for parents?
Yes, I run workshops on various topics, such as preparing for parenthood, managing early parenthood, and balancing work and family life. Check my website or contact me to learn about upcoming workshops.
How can your corporate workshops benefit my organisation?
Supporting parents in the workplace fosters a culture of inclusivity and loyalty, helping employees thrive both personally and professionally. My workshops equip managers with tools to lead with empathy and support working parents effectively.
